Sightseeings in Bolzano / Bozen - Italy
Visit Bolzano from the Hotel Post Gries
Guntschnapromenade
At about 200 metres from the Hotel, close to the former parish church of Gries, a pathway goes up in serpentines from Gries to Guntschna. It was named after the Habsburg archduke Heinrich; Mediterranean plants such as olive trees, laurels, prickly pears, agaves, cork-oaks and palm-trees thrive along the walking path.
Oswaldpromenade
In the north-east area of Bozen: from St. Anton Bridge to the vineyard village of St. Magdalena. The pathway partly leads over wood bridges along cliff walls. It is bordered by typical Mediterranean vegetation, in January the yellow jasmine is already in full blossom. Benches invite you to stay and admire the extraordinary views over the roofs and the basin of Bozen and of the Dolomites.
Waltherplatz
Walther Square is Bozen's meeting point. 1808 Emperor Maximilian of Bavaria arranged the construction of the square. It was named after the most important German poet of the Middle Ages, Walther von der Vogelweide (1170-1230). The Walther-statue in neo-romanic style was created by Heinrich Netter in 1889.
