The town of Bozen is situated in the heart of the Alps, embedded in a circle of mighty mountains. For this reason it is particularly suitable as a starting point for many hikes:
The following excursions to the town's immediate surroundings or to destinations a bit further away can be easily reached from the Hotel, for the most part with public transport.
The cable cars
In just a few minutes three cable cars take you up from the valley basin surrounded by mountains, to the cool heights of 1000 metres altitude.Jenesien, Kohlern and Bozen's home mountain Ritten can be reached within a few minutes and reveal new exciting worlds.
Kohlern
A trip to Kohlern mountain by cable car is a step into history, for this is the oldest passenger cable car of the world. The original gondola can be viewed at the upper terminal. It only takes 7 minutes to reach Kohlern (1150 above sea level). The view from Kohlern and in particular from the 35 metres high tower is really an extraordinary experience. One can enjoy magnificent views of mountains such as the Schlern, the Rosengarten, the Ritten high plateau and the Tschögglberg. It is an ideal starting point for mountain bike excursions, walks and hikes.
Jenesien
It only takes 8 minutes to get to Jenesien, a rambler's paradise. Above the village the Salten, a high plateau, attracts tourists with its age-old larches, with its riding and walking paths. From the Salten high plateau one enjoys no doubt the most beautiful view of the Rosengarten and unforgettable sunsets, when the Dolomites glow as they reflect the setting sun.
Ritten's cable car and train
In only 12 minutes you can reach the village of Oberbozen. From there you have the connecting train (narrow gauge railway) to Klobenstein (16-minute-journey).
The Ritten beckons with plenty of sun and pretty walks with the unique Schlern and Seiser Alm meadowlands as a backdrop. There is also a ski area perfect for families.
From Klobenstein a comfortable path takes you to the earth pyramids.
