The wonderful impressions of the Tyrolean mountain world can be enjoyed right around the corner from Bolzano. The capital of South Tyrol offers you three funiculars that go up to the meadows and forests of San Genesio / Jenesien, the alpine plateau of Renon / Ritten, as well as the mountain village of Colle / Kohlern.

This trail runs along vineyards, meadows and forests through the Bolzano lowlands. Walking time to complete this path is approx. 5 hours. The level of difficulty can be classified as easy to moderate, making it suitable for families.

Renon / Ritten

The Renon / Ritten is the largest sun plateau of South Tyrol, making up an area of more than 100 square kilometers with its villages. It extends above Bolzano. In the photo you can see the wonderful mountain panorama of the Dolomites. A trip with the Ritten railway is equally interesting, as it has connected Soprabolzano / Oberbozen and Collalbo / Klobenstein for over 100 years.

San Genesio / Jenesien

Located about 10 kilometers away from Bolzano, the high plateau of San Genesio / Jenesien offers breathtaking views on the city. San Genesio is located at about 1000 meters above sea level and offers quietness and clean air. The plateau features a rich variety of vegetation, characterized by vast grasslands and dense forest areas.

Colle di Bolzano / Kohlern

The Colle / Kohlern cable car is the oldest levitating funicular in the world. The small mountain village of Kohlern is an oasis of calm. It is so close to Bolzano and yet it seems so far away.
